Annual visitors

Flamingoes fly over the Salt Lake and nothing but hills and the town's ancient aqueduct can be seen in the background . The area is now fully urbanised . Legend has it that when 'St. Lazarus was once walking in the vicinity of Larnaca he asked a woman who was carrying grapes for some . She answered him mockingly by saying that more salt than wine was likely to be got from the soil . To which the Saint replied : Then let it be so ; from henceforth the soil shall produce salt , not the juice of the grape .'
