It is with particular satisfaction that I am announcing the end of my efforts as to the better and more accurate presentation of the Genealogical Tree of the Santamas Family. This research which gives me the belief that I have come up with a good result, has taken me about two years to complete and I went through various stages for the information, written or verbal, old but also recent. All these were added to my personal archive, which I luckily have kept ever since the few of the prior generation were still alive. Without wanting to say that I have achieved to do the impossible, atleast I feel that all I am presenting is correct and whatever other information you may notice as missing will stay as is until I or someone else of the younger generation can find it in the future.
A basic point of all my work, is the discovery of our real original name which is "LOUKARIOS" and which undoubtedly preceded today's "SANTAMAS", which was officially adapted for the first time by "Panayiotis Nicolaou Santamas", my grandfather's father Nicolaos, due to employment with, or co-operation with some French man named "Antoine de Saint Amand" (1807-1876) who lived in Larnaca during the last century and who's grave and coat of arms are still in existence today at the Catholic cemetery in Larnaca, and of which I possess part of the genealogical tree. This of course is information I had obtained from the elders. One of the recent suggestions of a fellow researcher was the possibility that the name SANTAMAS was derived from SANTA MAURA, the Italian name of the Greek Island "Lefkas". For this I had requested a well known researcher from Greece to investigate and let me know accordingly.
Another point worth mentioning is the fact that "Panayiotis Loukarios Santamas" did not only have "Demosthenes" as the only brother but two additional, "George" (1843) and "Augusta" (1852) who do not appear anywhere, therefore I must assume that they died at a young age.
So with these few words of completion and with a lot of thanks for all of you who had helped my attempt to bring this to a conclusion, I am sending you a copy of my work, and for your convenience I add that I had numbered the names in a way so that the first number represents the increasing, and the second indicates the ancestor. For example: the number 17/8 shows that "Neofytos Petrou Santamas" is the 17th in line and that he is the son of "Petros Santamas" who is being mentioned under the number 8/4...4 indicating Petros father "Demosthenes".
